About fairview park

Fairview Park is a small community park  (4418 Manayunk Avenue) built in the 1970s under the Rizzo administration.  Very well used and loved and was as a result a little tired.  The park was completely maintained by neighbors.  Neighbors came together in 2018 with the design team of SALT and spent several months rethinking the park and how it related to the immediate community.  The outcome of that work was an agreed upon plan for the community to work towards.

Some simple short term projects were initiated and completed.  One project included working with Philadelphia Park Authority (PPA) on the portion of the park area with parking.  Another was the removal of some of the chain link fencing.  These efforts are complete and resulted in a better functioning parking area, that is kinder to pedestrians and makes the entrance to the park much more obvious.  Next neighbors met with the Councilman’s office, to discuss funding, and, in addition, started writing grants for specific projects.  This is an ongoing effort to make our park the best it can be for our neighbors.
