Land has been acquired and planning is underway for new Wissahickon Transfer Center at the Wissahickon Creek area of the Roxborough Manayunk community. Besides improving public transportation for this area and beyond, a new section of trail will be constructed crossing the Wissahickon Creek on a new separated bridge and will then go back along the river to the Pencoyd Bridge.
The Pencoyd Bridge has a bike and pedestrian trail attached, which can take you over to Lower Merion or back on to Main St. This new trail area will allow bicyclists to bypass a dangerous section of on road biking at the Wissahickon adjacent to the current Wissahickon Transfer Center.
